When the New York Times released the list of 52 places to travel to in 2016, the Southern Gulf Island was one of the two Canadian destinations in the worldwide list.

The Southern Gulf Islands were placed between Ubud, Indonesia and Sydney Australia. Salt Spring Island, the largest of the Gulf Islands is place to explore, experience whale and wildlife sightings, kayak or check out the wine and studio tours. When you stay with us at Mariner’s Loft, it is a place to rejuvenate and watch the sunrise from your private balcony while sipping your morning coffee.

Are you planning your getaway for the New Year? Taking a vacation to the Southern Gulf Islands has always been a popular spot for those traveling from nearby cities such as Vancouver, Victoria or Seattle. Now with one of the world’s top publications, Salt Spring Island will be sure to become a hot spot all year around.

“A short ferry ride (as little as an hour) leads to a maze of Pacific islands dotted with small seaside villages, where summers can feel almost Mediterranean. Rocky coast and pebble beaches give way to rolling pastures and forested peaks. Winding roads lead from farms and wineries to cheeseries, breweries and artists’ studios. Each of the nearly dozen major islands has its own character and contrarian island culture, but all offer secluded coves and trails to explore, and abundant wildlife, from eagles to orcas.” – Remy Scalza (New York Times)
