The Salt Spring Island Ceramic Awards, October 6th-16th, 2016

The artistry of Salt Spring’s community is one of it’s most prided characteristics. Reputed as a Canadian Arts and Craft mecca, this island is home to more than 50 studio potters, many of whom will exhibit at the the Salt Spring Potters Guild’s biennial juried exhibition this month at Mahon Hall.

The venue, Mahon Hall, home of the SSI Arts Council and a quaint landmark in its own right, is a short stroll from Mariner’s Loft in downtown Ganges. The exhibition, comprising 63 unique pieces, is accompanied by a schedule of quality, family-friendly special events throughout October.

JOY OF TEXTURE: CREATING A HAND-BUILT MUG

October 8th, 12-3pm

“This workshop is centered around the process of playing with clay, and exploration… Emphasis will be given to the process, and to the joy of creating. With some basic building and joining skills, the students will piece together their creations into a functional mug…”

ENGAGING POTS MASTER WORKSHOP
